Second anniversary of losing you

2009 July 01

We woke to bright sunshine. Ian, Marcus and I went to visit you at Sidcup,we took a beautiful arrangement of summer flowers including purple ones that look like giant dandelion clocks, so pretty. We were surprised that Marcus came, he doesn't usually, but it was so good to be there all three of us with you, in the sunshine. Then we visited St John's church in Bexley village where your service was, they have a book of remembrance. Marcus came in with me but although the book was opened at 1st July, there was only one entry, for someone in 1974 or something, not yours. Then we drove in Ian's X5 down to the Kent coast. We decided on Broadstairs and had some lunch there, remembering you, surprised to see so many people on the beach on a mid-week day. It was a bit cloudy by now, more of a heat haze round the coast, so we left and went to Kingsgate where we had spent a great summer Sunday with you and everyone when you were about 10, do you remember? Marcus read the book he'd just bought, about Graham Norton, Ian and I fell asleep for an hour or so, by now the sky was brilliant blue and it was a perfect summer's day. Shortly after we got home, the girls came round - Laura, Beth, Emma, Hannah, Bethan, Katie, then Sandra, Leigh, Thea and Alun, and Jamie after his rugby training. Laura, Katie and Jamie have all got their degrees, 2:1 so pleased for them, they've worked very hard but the three years is already up. Emma and Beth have one more year to do, Bethan has just completed her first year at Leeds. Also it was lovely to have Marcus' friends round too, fantastic young people, every one of them. Your rose bush is massive this summer, it's because of the rain last year apparently. So many flowers, txts, messages for you. We all miss you so much. xxx
