Adam's Friends' Tribute

Created by Chris & Marcus 16 years ago
We're here on behalf of Adams close friends. Adam started off as a little terror at Chis & Sid., always in trouble, and I am sure most of the teachers would back me up in this but as the years passed he matured and really changed his ways and grew to become the Adam we all knew and loved. He became a hard working pupil and was rewarded by becoming the school vice-captain and the senior rugby captain. He led the rugby team to a record season which made history. For me Adams greatest characteristic was his desire to achieve in life. He would never settle for 2nd best, not just in school, or sports, but in life in general. He also made the people around him believe in themselves, he was an inspirational guy, whether it be down to his positive attitude or that massive cheeky grin he always carried. Although he was short ( some say oompa lumpa size) and was told this many times by pretty much everyone he had such a big personality and heart he never took it seriously, and I think this is why so many respected him. I know that us rugby boys would have done anything for Adam, as I am sure so many others would and in return I know Adam would have done anything for us, many times he would listen to our problems, offer advice, or just sometimes just sit with us, but he always had time to give. A truly good friend. I have many personal memories of Adam but will always remember our trips down to Swanage, where the 3 Amigos were formed. ‘Me, Adam and Rory, friends for life’. For all those of you that didn’t know we had a roman numeral 3 tattooed on our ankles, representing the 3 Amigos, we got so much stick for it off the boys, but we didn’t care it was special to us. We always said that where ever we were in the world we would ring each other up whenever we looked down at it. On leaving school me and Adam had planned to live in Australia for a year, but like usual he fell in love. He loved being in love. So many were jealous of this. All the boys wanted to be him and all girls secretly fancied him. This didn’t help towards his big head. Believe me. But when the Australia trip was cancelled his uncle gave us the opportunity to first stay in Dubai and then to work during the Asian games in Qatar and I know that he enjoyed every minute of it, he moaned a lot about the food and was terribly homes sick, and missed his mum and family, but we had a brilliant time. I know for a fact he was so grateful to his uncle for giving us the opportunity to do this, as am I, it is a time in my life I will never forget. Adam was a great sportsman and really shone at whatever sport he was playing; whether it was Rugby, running or football. He played for Parkmere football club for about 11 years and during this time his goal scoring record was phenomenal, as was his missed chances. In 1 season alone he scored over 80 goals, Alan his dad was paying him 10 pound per goal at the time and had to reduce this to 5 pound as it was costing him a fortune. He played with such a passion and thirst for the game that you could see that he really enjoyed playing and it was such a pleasure and honour to play in the same team as him. Everyone in the team just knew if u gave him the ball that he would do something special or completely miss. He carried this passion and enthusiasm throughout his sporting career and his life in general. It was never a boring night out with Adam. He was always found cutting a few shapes on the dance floor, mostly on his own at the start of the night. We were trying to think of some memories of such times like his 18th but I don’t think too many of us remember it, not that we had had to much to drink ……… But we do know he had such a special time that night because he had everyone around him who loved him, family and friends. There have been so many good times that we would love to talk about but we would most probably be here for ages. I know there’s one word that all his friends would agree sums him up in an instance… GEEZER. He loved his cockney rhyming but we don’t really know were he got it from and even sometimes he would have a conversation with us and we wouldn’t have the faintest idea what he was saying, most of the time we just nodded and agreed. I’m sure everyone who knew Adam would agree that he was beautiful person and a great friend to many. He will be missed and all though he has gone his memory will live for eternity. On behalf of everyone we are so proud and privileged to have known such an inspirational and amazing guy
